Offering a wide range of legal support and guidance, the Global Legal Team plays a critical role in helping our technology and business teams realize their goals.
As our product and community grow rapidly around the world, our legal team is seeking talented people who are eager to tackle challenges at the forefront of the legal and tech industries. So why join? Here's what three of our team members have to say!
Georgie Smith and Jordan Prince are Legal Counsels on our Commercial Team. They work on deals with media agencies and key advertisers, privacy matters, and more. This includes working with football leagues and sports brands on sponsorship and collaborations.
Roxana Ghiassee leads the legal support for e-commerce in the UK and across Europe. Roxana provides legal counsel on a broad range of matters, from advising on new launches and marketing campaigns to regulatory compliance and contract negotiation.

Why Choose TikTok?
With these three team members having come to TikTok from different areas, we wanted to know what prompted them to make the change.
"What drew me to TikTok was the chance to work at a dynamic company in an early stage of growth," Georgie says. "The opportunity to shape the company and make my work so relevant would be hard to find elsewhere."
For Roxana, it was the excitement of a new challenge that drew her to the team. "After nearly five years at an established leading tech company, I wanted the career opportunities that could only come at an innovative, disruptive, and fast-paced company like TikTok."
Jordan echoes this point about new challenges. "From day one, no two days have been the same and I'm always doing something new. I have the scope to explore new areas and lead initiatives that are true firsts for the business."
Opportunities for Growth
At TikTok, we move fast and prioritize achievement over bureaucracy and titles. Within our Global Legal Team, this creates some amazing opportunities for those who are proactive and eager to grow.
Georgie, for example, helped launch our first global online advertising terms as part of a large cross-functional project involving numerous teams around the globe. "Because the company is growing, I get the space to choose my own projects and drive my career," she says.
Roxana has also enjoyed growth and development in her role leading legal support for e-commerce, which is an emerging and exciting area of our business. As she describes, "as part of a small team, I get hands-on experience making key strategic decisions and formulating frameworks, and I'm regularly considering new areas of law and novel legal questions within e-commerce."
Jordan, who assisted on a transaction that brought a livestream of a Bundesliga match to TikTok in the 9:16 format for the first time, has had a similar experience.
"If you identify an area of opportunity, you can just take ownership and run with it. Even as the most junior legal counsel in Europe, I see that my ideas are really valued and implemented," he says. "Especially as the business expands, you're constantly learning new things and can even become a leader in an area that may have previously been outside your expertise."
Work-Life Balance
When we talk about the incredible pace and impact of our work, what does this mean for workload and overall work-life balance?
"Unlike in private practice where you might have inconsistent hours or workload, there's a lot happening at TikTok and there are always things to do," Georgie explains. "Still, because you have a high degree of autonomy in managing your work, you'll always be able to find a balance that works for you."
According to Jordan, leadership actually pushes for work-life balance. "My manager always checks in to ensure I'm not consistently working outside of normal hours. The support is great across the board, including for the many members of our team who have kids!"
As part of a global team, some new joiners might expect issues working across time zones. Roxana, who works closely with colleagues across the Asia-Pacific and North America, says this isn't the case. "Local teams are considerate about time differences, so it's quite unusual to have a call scheduled at an odd hour."
Joining the Team
In closing, we asked these three teammates if they had any final thoughts to share with candidates interested in joining the team.
Jordan encourages anyone weighing the decision to take the leap. "Coming to TikTok from a small firm, I was worried about becoming just a number at a large tech company, but the team is so tight and makes me feel valued. No matter where you're coming from, the company truly celebrates diversity and will make you feel welcome."
Georgie also joined TikTok from private practice. "Not only is everyone really bright and great to learn from, but they also bring so many different skills to the table without a sense of ego."
Roxana echoes this point. "If you're excited by the idea of meeting people with a wide range of backgrounds, stories, and experiences, there's no better place to be!"
