Amidst the rapid growth of the online shopping industry, the TikTok Shop Campaign and Community team has been tasked with an exciting mission - to work closely with brands and sellers to unleash the potential of TikTok. The team is working to grow the platform into one that's not only engaging and entertaining but also easy to shop on.
Do you want to learn more about how the team engages in our community and designs shopping campaigns to drive business results through a native shopping experience? We sat down with Yolanda, Efep, and Kinshi from the TikTok Shop Indonesia team, where they shared more about their team's unique role, strengths, and growth potential.

Tell us about your role and the team. What is it like to work in the Campaign and Community team?
Yolanda: TikTok Shop allows consumers to discover and purchase a wide array of goods. As part of the Merchandising department, my role is to handle our live-streaming sessions that involve online shopping. In the process, I communicate with multiple sellers to find the best approach they can take to buyers together. I get excited as I watch the revenues grow for every session we hold. I believe they build on our collaborative effort to help brands capitalize on commerce, community, and communications.
Efep: Like Yolanda, I'm also part of the Merchandising department. In my role, I have to pioneer new ideas to support our campaigns, ranging from seasonal campaigns during special occasions like Ramadan to mega-sell campaigns. Along the way, we also actively check in with our community of users to ensure that we provide enough support for them to shop online easily and safely. Through such campaigns and Intellectual Property (IP) marketing, our team invites our audience to discover unique shopping opportunities at TikTok (e.g., TikTok Shopping Payday Sale), engage in sales, and ultimately join our extensive community.
Kinshi: Speaking from the Operations department, my role is to increase traffic and boost sales for the campaigns Efep has mentioned. Our key strategy is to embed promotional content (e.g. in-feed ads) within the users' "For You" feed, so that they can easily find and shop for things that interest them.
What's unique about working in the TikTok Shop's Campaign and Community team?
Kinshi: I believe the most exciting part of our work is that we can be as creative as we want in keeping our campaigns engaging for the TikTok community. Through our campaigns and in-feed ads, we are able to actively create awareness and reach our target audiences instead of waiting for them to come to us. We aim to provide our community with the easiest and safest way to explore and purchase products of their interest. Our community is what makes shopping on TikTok so unique. They have reshaped the way we discover, sell, and shop for new products, making TikTok the home to a new shopping culture and experience.
Efep: My favorite part about working on this team is being able to empower our community of sellers and creators to make an impact. As I empower them, I feel empowered by them as well, as I can design new ways to accommodate their needs and wants. As our team continues to grow fast, I feel that having a strong team culture is very important. I love that I can ask my teammates and team leader for help anytime.
Yolanda: Our current communication cycle between sellers and buyers is a great advantage we hold in the market. We are able to provide sellers with options to promote and sell products all in one place. I also appreciate the unique opportunity to collaborate with popular sellers and global teammates. They always make me feel like my opinions matter, and this inspires me to strive towards finding new and better strategies.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in joining the team?
Efep: We are looking for someone with a strong interest in the E-commerce industry. The person should have some background and insights about the industry and is familiar with popular products and trends, pricing strategies, etc. Besides having the expertise, we are also looking for someone creative who can think critically and learn independently. These qualities would enable you to better adapt to our fast-growing team and industry.
Yolanda: I would say the willingness to learn and resilience are the two most important qualities. Having experience is a plus; even with experience, you will inevitably have to find out what works for you and your role in TikTok Shop, and resilience will help you go the extra mile.
Kinshi: Someone open-minded and willing to embrace changes will enjoy working in our team. We often collaborate and learn from teammates from different countries with varying working cultures. There will also always be new campaigns with unique objectives, tasks, and challenges, which makes our job so exciting. So, there's much to look forward to when you join us.
