FAQ

General Information

TikTok offers opportunities for working students, undergraduates, postgraduates (Masters, MBA & PhD), and candidates with one or fewer years of experience, across various functions and countries. Visit the regional pages under the Early Careers page for a list of our opportunities.

Please take your time to review all information about the team and role descriptions on our career page and choose the role which is in line with your interest and skill set. Each role has its own requirements, and you can narrow your search by using the filtering tool on the left hand side of the page.

You may apply for up to two Early Career positions per program within the application timeframe. You may also filter the program under the careers page (such as Graduates, Undergrad/Master Intern, etc.). The application limit applies to both TikTok and its affiliates' jobs globally.

You may apply if you have proper work authorization and the right to work in the hiring country.

We expect candidates to have the proper work authorization within the country they are applying to work in. International candidates should seek information from their local government and speak to their university career advisers for more information on ensuring the correct work authorization.

We have work experience and shadowing opportunities in select regions. These positions will be advertised on our jobs page as and when they become available.

Yes, TikTok offers competitive salaries for internships.

Eligibility

Internships are only open to current students enrolled in an accredited academic institution. You may still be eligible to apply for our graduate opportunities, available to candidates with less than a year of working experience.

Depending on the location and the position, many of our roles accept people with previous work experience. For specific information, please refer to the job requirements of the role you are applying for.

Candidates are welcome to apply to any role! If applicable, you can share relevant projects, skills, and previous leadership roles.

No. Candidates must be current students in order to be considered for internships. However, we do offer internships to candidates doing a university placement year.

No, we do not have requirements for academic achievement (for example, GPA or degree classification). However, we recommend that you share relevant academic achievements on your CV/resume.

We cannot guarantee a full-time role after your internship. However, when possible, we provide full-time opportunities to qualified interns based on performance. Your local HR Business Partner and Early Careers team will discuss this with you at the end of your internship.

Application process

Please visit our Early Careers landing page for more information on application steps. As we process applications on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply early.

To ensure that all applications are fairly assessed, we encourage all students to apply through our careers page. We do not accept email applications as we cannot guarantee a prompt response due to the high volume of applications.

Please submit your resume/CV in English.

Unless otherwise stated, we do not require school transcripts or a cover letter during the application process.

This means that the role has closed and we regretfully cannot accept further applications.

No, you cannot withdraw your application through the career site once submitted. If you require further assistance, please contact your recruiter.

The hiring process varies by team or position. It typically includes resume screening, online assessment (if applicable), interviews with the hiring team, and the offer, if selected.

Due to the high volume of applications, we cannot provide individual status updates. You can check the status of your application(s) in your application center.

If you have an active application with TikTok, please reach out to your recruiter with any deadline given by a competing offer. Your recruiter will advise you on the next steps.

Assessments/Interviews

Depending on the location, technical roles typically require an online assessment to ascertain your coding skills. You will receive instructions with ample preparation time should you be required to attempt one.

If you're invited to a technical assessment, you may use the programming language of your choice. If you're proficient in multiple programming languages, please choose the one that provides the most optimal solution to the problem statement given.

We understand that there may be unforeseen circumstances barring you from completing the online assessment at the first instance. Please email your recruiter for assistance.

If you pass the technical online assessment, we will reach out to you when we are ready to invite you to interviews. Keep in mind, we have many people who pass our online assessment and only a certain number of interviewers per position, so we can not guarantee a specific timeline to hear back. If you did not pass the online assessment, you should receive a rejection letter via email.

Yes. Most of our interviews are online, and we have several ways to accommodate interviews across different regions and time zones. Please remember to tell your recruiter if you are in a different time zone than the interview location.

Unfortunately, as we receive a high volume of applications, we are unable to provide individual feedback following the interview, but you will be informed on the outcome of the interview.

Pre-onboarding

The HR Operations team will reach out to you with specific action items/documentation you'll need to complete before Day 1 with us. There will also be an onboarding session within your first week, where you'll learn more about our culture, your role and your team.

You will be assigned to at least one colleague/mentor who will personally coach you, communicate with you on projects, and provide detailed feedback. Your mentor(s) will help you adapt to the role and develop professional skills. In addition to mentorship, we provide resources through our internal e-learning platform and departmental training programs. We also offer training sessions tailored to support fresh graduates and interns at the company.

At TikTok, we believe in taking care of our most valuable asset: our employees. We provide a holistic benefits plan for our employees' work life and health. Benefits vary by country. To find out more, please reach out to your local recruiter.
