Responsibilities
Team Insight The EHS & Safety - Infrastructure function is the combined safety, environmental and physical‑security owner for infrastructure, ensuring that data centers and related sites operate safely, comply with regulations, protect people and assets, and support resilient, secure and sustainable operations globally. Finland is part of the EMEA region Europe, Middle East and Africa. There might be some need for travel to interact with the team. Role Insight The EHS & Security function is responsible for embedding safety, environmental compliance, and physical security into the design, construction, and operation of data centers and critical facilities worldwide. The Finland EHS Engineer will mainly be responsible for the datacentres located in Finland, but also contribut to the continual improvement of the Global EHS framework. - Leads EHS program governance – setting and executing EHS strategies, running risk assessments, audits, inspections, and ensuring alignment with global frameworks and local regulations. - Owns regulatory compliance and incident management – acting as the main interface to regulators, managing permits and inspections, overseeing incident reporting and investigations, and driving corrective actions and continuous improvement. - Integrates EHS into projects and operations – partnering with Security, Facilities, DC Operations, Real Estate, and vendors so that safety and security requirements are built into lifecycle planning, construction, commissioning, and day‑to‑day operations. - Drives emergency preparedness and response – leading emergency response programs, drills, and scenario‑based trainings, and managing data quality in the global incident management systems. - Develops safety culture and training – building and maintaining EHS training curricula for employees and contractors, onboarding emplooyees and contractors as needed, and promoting a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement and mentoring. - Supports environment & sustainability – coordinating compliance for air, water, waste and stormwater management and working with sites and colos on energy optimisation, emissions reduction, and waste diversion to meet global ESG goals. - Manages data‑driven EHS performance – provide data‑driven recommendations to leadership on risk reduction and resource allocation. Responesbileties - Oversee day-to-day EHS activities on sites - Monitor and enforce safety compliance across all subcontractors - Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) - Manage and coordinate subcontractors to ensure safe working practices - Conduct site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks - Identify risks and implement corrective actions - Ensure all work aligns with local regulations and project safety standards - Report incidents and maintain accurate EHS documentation
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - 3+ years of proven experience as an EHS professional from data centre or other large-scale industry - Experience with supporting subcontractors on-site - Solid understanding of and experience with reviewing RAMS - Relevant HSE qualifications - Strong communication and leadership skills, able to work independently on sites - English proficiency, oral and writing Preferred Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s or Master degree in Occupational Safety, Environmenta Engineering or similar. - Experience: Several years of progressive EHS experience in data centers, energy, or other high‑hazard industrial environments, ideally with regional scope. Experience working with colocation partners and vendors and supporting projects, incident management, or small team leadership is an advantage. - Emergency and risk management: Hands‑on experience managing emergency preparedness teams, drills, documentation, performing job‑specific risk analysis and management of high‑risk operations (LOTO, confined space, work at height, etc.). - Training: Experienced trainer, comfortable with 1:1 training as well as training larger groups of employees and contractors. - Soft skills: Good administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills, able to prioritise, work smart and utilise computer tools and reporting platforms efficiently.
